Sometimes You Just Ask : The Letter to Payton Manning

When you ask for something, sometimes you get what you ask for.

So many times, we are afraid of rejection and we never ask the question.

Follow your dreams, your passions, your career goals, and ask for the things you want to accomplish.

You will experience setbacks and doubts.

However, the worst outcome is regretting not taking action and not asking the question.

My oldest son, a fan of Payton Manning, was worried that Payton was going to retire without winning a Super Bowl.

He decided to write a letter to Payton Manning, asking him to practice, practice practice, and that if he just focused on practice he may win the Superbowl.

My wife and I were worried that Payton Manning wouldn’t respond, so we explained to our son, that Payton Manning was really busy and the chances of him getting a response was very small.

My son carried on, undeterred, he wrote the letter, got a bunch of his buddies from school to sign the letter in support of Payton, and he mailed the letter to Denver.

About a month later, we received a package from the the Denver Broncos. Payton Manning had read the letter, had autographed a poster and wrote a short note thanking my son for the note of encouragement.

My son learned an important lessons that day, and so did his parents ;0)

Payton Manning and the Broncos went on to win the Super Bowl the next year.

Inspired by my son’s story, I am asking now if I can start my own courses and Thinkific.com and create training classes to inspire people to use data to make their businesses more productive.

I’ll check back in a month and see how far I get with my new “ask”!
